KV42

KV42
   An undecorated, multichambered tomb with such royal attributes as a cartouche-shaped burial chamber in the Valley of the Kings. It may have ben discovered by Victor Loret at the end of the 19th century, but it was cleared under the supervision of Howard Carter in 1900. Remains from private burials of Dynasty 18 were found but were probably intrusive. In 1921, Carter discovered foundation deposits of Queen Meryetre Hatshepsut, wife of Thutmose III and mother of Amenhotep II, so the tomb was likely intended for her.
